I wish they would release that on DVD, its one of the best live documents out there and a wonderful companion piece to Black Sabbath and Paranoid.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-660808341284783109.post-82861620565993974582014-11-19T23:49:37.487+03:002014-11-19T23:49:37.487+03:00I don't mean the video for the song Never Say ...I don't mean the video for the song Never Say Die, I mean the concert video from the 1978 tour that was released on DVD. It's definitely live as, among other things, it shows Ozzy desperately trying to hit the notes in a version of "Snowblind" that's been tuned up to D to fit in with the newer material. I was introduced to Renaissance, UFO, Curved Air and Amon Duul II through this show, and they were all in my music collection soon after. And the host, Uschi Nerke, was a bombshell...god damn.Which One's Pink?https://www.blogger.com/profile/01967778287591586043noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-660808341284783109.post-7587467980983304382014-11-19T22:46:17.801+03:002014-11-19T22:46:17.801+03:00As far as I can see and hear the 1978 Never Say Di...As far as I can see and hear the 1978 Never Say Die video (from Top of the Pops I assume) is playbacked. No amps, with overdubs.<br />No matter which ones are your favourite bands, Don Kirshner is always worth checking out. So is German Beat Club. Search for Black Sabbath Live Beat Club 1970 and after Black Sabbath, Paranoid and Iron Man you will be in for a huge surprise.MNbnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-660808341284783109.post-6600088510009450552014-11-19T22:15:48.065+03:002014-11-19T22:15:48.065+03:00So my prediction (that GS would skip the album) di...So my prediction (that GS would skip the album) didn't come true and my comment under the album 13 is misplaced. As I think Master of Reality a boring album I'm obviously not a serious fan. Still I wholeheartedly recommend the entire 1970 Paris show. Just compare the furiosity of Paranoid from that show with the flat interpretation that made it to Past Lives. That includes Iommi's solo.MNbnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-660808341284783109.post-31470174895014657142014-11-19T20:57:41.639+03:002014-11-19T20:57:41.639+03:00Yes, it's about as good a sample as we're ...Yes, it's about as good a sample as we're ever going to get from this period. I do wish they had included the entire 1970 Paris show, even if it means redundancies with some of the cuts from "Live At Last". The 1975 material seems more like an afterthought, but it's historically valid. As for the best of this rest from this lineup, I'd recommend Youtubing the 1975 Don Kirshner footage, as well as the 1978 Never Say Die video (which has been released as a DVD). After taking all of this in, you'll pretty much all the knowledge you'll ever need concerning live Sabbath in the Ozzy era. Malxhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17260547693221778146noreply@blogger.com
